Nuestras Instalaciones – The Mayan Shaman en Ek Balam
Mayan cooking is part of the living tradition that continues here in the Yucatán peninsula. In our Mayan Cooking Classes you sit and work with real ingredients and in the same way the Maya from the community have done for generations. This is not a show. It is a sacred way of doing things that belongs to everyday life and ceremony.
Here you will learn to prepare traditional Mayan food by hand, guided by the Maya cocineras from the Ek Balam village who speak the language, live these traditions every day, and carry this knowledge with respect and care. You will work with corn dough, shape tortillas, cook over heat, and see how food is made and shared as part of daily life and ceremonial gatherings.
Cooking and eating here are not separate from ceremony. They are part of living Mayan culture, a way to honor the land that gives the food, the community that shares it, and the ancestors who have taught these ways. The work is simple and real. The food you prepare is shared together at the table, grounded in presence, respect, and gratitude.
If you join these classes, you join as someone who comes with respect for the tradition and the people who practice it every day. This is a real living tradition, not a performance, and it continues to grow and bless those who come with openness and reverence.
