A Journey of Purification, Renewal, and Rebirth
Step into the Sacred Temazcal, an ancient Mayan sweat lodge ceremony designed to cleanse the body, mind, and spirit. This profound ritual, guided by an experienced shaman, represents a return to the womb of Mother Earth—offering purification, healing, and transformation.
Purification
Before entering the Temazcal, the shaman cleanses each participant using the sacred smoke, preparing participants for the ceremony.
This purification marks the beginning of the Temazcal experience.
Inside The Temazcal
After the purification ritual, participants enter the Temazcal as guided by the shaman. Inside the Temazcal steam is created using water prepared with healing herbs.
Once all participants are inside, the ceremony continues within the Temazcal.
The shaman calls on the elements and guides the ceremony through breathing and chanting. Participants follow the guidance, breathing together and participating in the chants as led.
Cold Water Tank
After the Temazcal, participants enter a cold water tank.
The cold water helps close the pores of the skin, refresh the body, and complete the ceremony.
Warming Fire & Refreshments
Following the cold water, participants sit around the fire to warm up and relax.
Light refreshments may be shared, such as tamales, fruit salad, ceviche, or other traditional foods and beverages.
What Makes Us Special
Our Temazcal ceremony is guided by a traditional Maya shaman from Ek Balam. He was born in the village, speaks the Maya language, and practices his traditions daily. This is an authentic Maya ceremony, shared with respect and integrity.
At the same time, we have designed our Temazcal space with guest well-being in mind. The Temazcal itself is more beautiful, spacious, and more comfortable than most traditional Temazcales, allowing for a more pleasant experience without compromising authenticity.

Another thing that sets us apart is that the food we offer you after the ceremony is exceptionally delicious. It is freshly prepared by real Maya cocineras from Ek Balam, completing the experience with care from beginning to end.
